When the university established there are three colleges are with 2 faculty members and 750 students.. The name of these 3 colleges are St. Stephen  college which is founded in 1881 and  another  one is Hindu college founded in 1889and last one is Ramjas college founded in 1917.

In the first half of the seventies the university of Delhi started with a new executive model with multi campus system. It has been usual for a large number of applicants .This was started in 1973   in the south campus with the commencement in the certain department.
